Maharana Pratap Government Degree College, Nanakmatta, affiliated to Kumaun University, Nainital came into existence on 14 October, 2021, vide notification no. 896/XXIV-C-2/2021-14(06)2020 dated 14 October 2021, as a result of persistent demands from the residents of the interior regions of Nanakmatta of the District Udham Singh Nagar for a college in the proximity. Nanakmatta is a historical town named after the Sikh pilgrimage site, Gurudwara Nanakmatta Sahib, located in the district Udham Singh Nagar
